The White House Gets Sensitive

Ok, this piece of news tops the strange and absurd things of the day.

Bush Cancels Event After Ledger’s Death
Wednesday January 23 12:04 PM ET

The death of Heath Ledger prompted the White House to postpone President Bush’s event Wednesday promoting an ad campaign aimed at preventing prescription drug abuse….

White House press secretary Dana Perino said Bush’s event had been scheduled for a while.

“We thought it would be better to postpone the event rather than run the risk of anyone thinking that we were being opportunistic in highlighting the issue,” she said.

As my friend pointed out to me - “Since when did the White House become concerned about looking opportunistic?”

Even more bizarre is that the cause of Ledger’s death has yet to be truly determined. While it is clear that he was surrounded by sleeping pills, it has not been confirmed that he had any previous addiction to prescription drugs or that an overdose was the cause of death.

Maybe the President has a Brokeback crush on Ledger?
